The RustMo1 Solar Project, South Africa's pioneering utility-scale clean energy project, celebrates a decade of successful operation and community impact. A beacon of success in private-public partnerships, the project has blazed a trail in collaboration, providing a proven model for large renewables procurement projects. With 17% of project dividends supporting a community development trust and a strong emphasis on skills development and women’s empowerment, the project exemplifies the critical role of renewable energy projects in social upliftment.

JUWI South Africa now has 400 megawatt (MW) of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects in advanced stages of development for mines in South Africa.
An improved regulatory environment has allowed the 89 MW Castle Wind project, initially developed by JUWI for the South African Government’s REIPPP Programme (REI4P), to be pivoted to remotely power Sibanye-Stillwater’s mining operations.

The Wolf Wind project initially developed by JUWI and successfully bid by Red Rocket in Round 5 of the South African government’s REI4P has reached financial close and construction has started. Driven by the energy crisis and the country’s climate commitments, JUWI now has over 4 GW wind, solar, and hybrid projects in various stages of development for large private and public energy users.

While the international community is still looking for solutions against the climate crisis at the COP27 conference in Egypt, the international project developer JUWI is in final stages of commissioning the world’s largest solar hybrid project at Centamin’s Sukari Gold Mine, some 400 kilometers south of the conference venue Sharm El-Sheikh.

It is the largest third-party project to date for the company's O&M division in the EMEA region.
